Question:
how much is miami sales tax?

Answer:
The combined state and local sales tax rate for the Miami - Dade county area is 6.5%. An extra .5% was tacked on to the longstanding 6% in the 1990's as a "temporary" measure that apparently was not so temporary after all. Miami - Dade's northern neighbor, Fort Lauderdale retains the lower 6% sales tax and area residents often make the short trip "across the border" on large-ticket items to save on the tax.
