Why do some Marshalls or TJ Maxx stores have really high-end designer stuff and how do I find out which ones?

Is there any way to figure out which stores have the best stuff? Is it usually based on the average income in the town where the store is located?

Yes, the merchanidising selections made by those stores is determined by the demographics of the area the store is located.
A Marshalls or TJ MAXX in the affluent Seattle suburbs of Bellevue or Kirkland would have more high end merchandise than, say one in Burien or Federal Way.
So if you live in a large metro area, look for a store in one of the more affluent areas.
