Small business, such as local business, personal finance, credit and real estate.
When I get a credit card, do I have to pay anything right after obtaining it?
Do I have to put money in it first before using it? Or do I spend as much as the limit is and pay it off at the end of the month?
Do I get cheques along with the Credit Card?
No you will not have to put money on it, that%26#039;s what credit is - loaned money.
You will have to make at least minimum payments (set by your financial institution) on the amount borrowed, and will have to do so monthly. Spending the credit limit would be unwise unless you%26#039;ve got the cash to back the credit. Maxing out credit cards has become an American pass-time and look where it%26#039;s taken them…into one of the great financial crises of our lifetime.
Credit card cheques are available, but why ever use them if you%26#039;ve got a checking account?
My advice: get ONE credit card, pay it off in full on a monthly basis. Use discipline on spending. If you ever max out your card you%26#039;re almost definitely using unwise money habits.
If you don%26#039;t know all of this, you are not ready for a credit card.
Whatever you do…don%26#039;t max it out. Just spend a lil bit and then pay it off at the of the month!
