I had been going to an allergy clinic for 3 years getting allergy shots. They were all paid by insurance. For some reason, they failed to bill my insurance for the last two shots ($25 each). Too much time has passed for them to go back and resubmit. 3 years later I see they sent me to collections. The Collections company wants $69. I do not want to pay it on principle. Is there anything I can do besides pay it or just let it sit on my record? Thanks.

Oh yes. Medical collections weigh much less heavy on a credit score and here is why{medical accounts do hurt your score but not as much as some other derogatories}. A lot can happen to a medical account. Incorrect billing, wrong form used. should have used a UB92 instead of a HCFA 1500 form…wrong billing code, or just forgot to bill, billed wrong insurance co, or co-pay issue or wrong secondary insurance co…A million things could happen…bad employees making mistakes…happens all the time…WHAT to do!!! Have the collection agency %26quot;Validate%26quot; the debt. they have 30 days to do so or they must remove this account from the credit bureaus. Most collection agencies do not have the %26quot;back up%26quot; {documentation or itemized statement} to VALIDATE the debt…this will set them up for small claims action if they do not validate. I could go on and on…you have an easy one to handle. Put your validation letter together and mail it certified signed receipt {just google it for a validation letter…educate yourself it will work if you do it right}Remember, most of the collection agencies do not have the records necessary to validate the debt..and the original creditor most likely has it in a ware house in Alaska or Tuskalooska, Alabama!!!! they just don%26#039;t keep these records on hand {especially old ones} and if they do, they won%26#039;t get it back to you within the 30 days allowed by law…then you %26quot;got um.%26quot; any other questions call me, Mark %26quot;D%26quot; www.creditmor.com 760-622-5555

It%26#039;s worth $69 to clear your credit…forget about principle.

Get a written agreement from them called a Pay for Delete agreement, where they promise to remove the item from your credit file upon receipt of payment. Get this PRIOR to paying them….

%26quot;On principle?%26quot; If you got the services, you owe the money. You should have been more on top of your medical and insurance billing.

pay up it is hurting your credit and you did get the shots but offer only 50 and get it in writing first as that was not a revolving account

It%26#039;s the cost of a night out for two. Just pay it.
